How can I prevent Messenger showin me online when I sign into Yahoo mail?

When I sign into Yahoo mail it shows me online in Yahoo Messenger even though i have the setting in Messenger to show me offline. How can I change it so that I am not shown online until i select that setting?

Messenger>Privacy Options
At the top there will be a box that says "Allow Yahoo! sites to show when I am online". Uncheck it, apply. You may have to restart messenger.
