How can I become a high end fashion designer?

I have enough money to set up my own business but how do I go about doing it? Can I design my clothes on the computer. Does anyone know of designers that do that?

I think in any business one has to remember the story of the Tortoise and the Hare; Slow and steady wins the race. Be focused and precise with your choices. And as you are someone with no experience it might be a good idea to find a mentor before you even make the decision on weather or not attend school for it.
Also I think you need to be aware that like any industry, its an industry and a business and where there is room for plenty of creativity, its a craft…not an art. Meaning there is structure and ways to do things. Its not just a free flow of creativity and color on blank canvas. You have to learn the fundamentals and techniques that are common amongst all the successful designers. An internship is a great way to learn all that and make connections and figure out with yourself if you’re into it as a life.
You can design anything on the computer. If you ask an old school designer they will say that you have to pencil everything first….but they are old school and that’s what makes them old school. I have a Literary, Model and Talent Management Company and I use techniques that are revolutionary to this industry to cast a net far and wide is hopes of finding unsigned and untapped talent. I am going against the grain and it is working. Who cares what road we take, as long as we get to the destination we hoped for do it withg grace and dignity. You too can be the new school….the new garde. It has to happen sooner or later and it might as well be you.
Remember this no matter what you do: THE HARDER YOU WORK AND LEARN, THE LUCKIER YOU WILL GET!!! You have more questions, call me from the number on my site or email me. I like to help

You can start a sketchbook, carry it with you in case you get an idea and want to draw it.
After you get some sketches you’ll need to work on the sewing part and constructing the garmet or outfit.
Keep on sketching and working on projects then start small, maybe you first want to create your logo and name then start selling them at craft sales, or online, or even just giving outfits as gifts to people.
It will probably take a long time, you have to work step by step, start off small and work your way up.
One tip is look at what customers are looking for, currently there are like next to no clothing companies that make nice stylish Sweatshop free and Eco Friendly clothes for people of all ages. We need more companies to have green clothing lines and make their clothing in fair trade, sweat free factories.
Good luck!

You should go to fashion school. It would be extremely helpful. You could design your clothes on the computer. Most designers sketch their collections, but that doesn’t mean you have to sketch your collections. You can do whatever you please.
To start up your own business I would probably take some business courses, there is alot of stuff to learn. They could hook you up with connections to help start up your own business.
